The Nodes are the eclipse points-where the orbits of the Sun,
Moon and Earth intersect in three dimensional space. They bring
together soul (Sun), mind (Moon) and body (Earth). Wherever the
nodes are by transit in the sky there will be a lot of
celestial/supernatural energy flowing that we get to experience
directly through body and mind.
The Nodes are represented by a serpent that was decapitated.
The severed head (North node Rahu) is eternally thirsting for
experience in the world. But the head is disconnected from the
rest of the body thus things are not so easily digested or
learned. The headless body (South node Ketu) is feeling used up
and "over it", as it relates to worldly experience and
experiences sought after by Rahu.
In a birth chart, the things influenced by Rahu are lessons
our soul has not yet developed. Rahu's obsession and
preoccupation with those things allow us to develop, but usually
through many painful mistakes and subconscious
fears/attachments/projections. Ketu shows things the soul has
developed but get little satisfaction from. Many of the skills
we develope by dealing with our painful childhood experiences
are related to the South node. Our childhood is really the
culmination of our last lifetime and those skills/aversions are
the things of the South node, Ketu.
The South node shows things we have mastered, which are
reinforced by our childhood. The North node shows the things we
have not yet mastered, which shows why we always rebel against
our past to some extent. Eventually, the exaggerations and
strong likes/dislikes - attractions/aversions of the nodal axis
need to be harmonized and balanced.
Both Nodes have the quality of creating smoke and producing
illusion. Both nodes are uncooperative and show where we will
have a hard time listening to others and learning from them. The
smoke of Rahu basically says "I don't care how many times I
make these mistakes, they are my mistakes to make and I'm going
to do it until I'm done". The smoke/confusion of Ketu says
"I've been through this, I know what it's all about, so I
don't need to listen to you and what you have to
Rahu shows the certainty of inexperience. Ketu shows the
certainty of experience.
The nodes are about to enter the Scorpio/Taurus axis in the
sky. This will show a major shift of energy in our collective
lives and personal lives.
Rahu and Ketu in The Scorpio / Taurus Axis
Security and Insecurity
It is along this axis that Rahu and Ketu are considered
exalted or debilitated. With Rahu in Scorpio and Ketu in Taurus,
the nodes are considered debilitated. This is because Scorpio is
an obsessive and emotionally painful sign. Taurus can be quite
rigid, conservative and resistant to change. Both of these
traits tend to magnify the difficult qualities of each node.
Rahu is an energy where we are already obsessed, emotionally
stressed and very restless.
When in Scorpio, that restlessness and immaturity leads to a
lot of emotional pain – as Scorpio is already emotionally
painful and fearful. The South node, Ketu, is an energy where we
are already "certain" of ourselves, based on our past
experiences. We have formed very strong conclusions and we are
resistant to untangle the deep knot associated with Ketu. When
Ketu is in Taurus, those conclusions can become very calcified
When the nodes are reversed, with Rahu in Taurus and Ketu in
Scorpio, the nature of those signs support an unfolding of
growth. Rahu in Taurus becomes stable, and much less volatile,
restless and painful. Ketu in Scorpio becomes much more willing
to dig deeply into our preconceived ideas about things we are
certain of, based on our past experiences and current skill set.
What The Nodal Axis Shift Means To You
The position of the nodal axis is in the current sky,
relative to your birth chart and your predisposition around your
karma, determines a lot of the obsessions/aversions/attractions
you will be experiencing for any given (approximately) 18
months. Those particular astrology signs, the houses where they
fall and any planets you have in them will be important themes.
